anyone ever been to K1? It seems to be the McDonalds of cart racing. I just heard about them on Pandora and they are opening a track (pictured below) near me. the track doesn't look as exciting as F1 Boston but its about 1/2 the price.

They've got one here in Austin, but I haven't been. I understand it's rather expensive. My son went for a birthday party and had a blast.

3 races for $45 plus $6 for a racing liscence. F1 Boston is like $90 plus $10 I think.

I drove my friend to Austin about two years ago and we went to this cart track. They use electric go carts which are awesome because the torque they make they have no slipper clutch and they are fast but sometimes you end up getting a car with a bum battery my friend was faster than me because he weighs 50 pounds less in one of the runs he couldn't touch me. That being said it's an awesome place.

I've been to the one in Austin. I can't speak to cost because it was a corporate event, but the cars where definitely good enough to have fun on a compact indoor track. Also it gets hot enough in Austin in the summer that driving indoors was kind of a treat, so not having to factor in weather is a bonus.

That seems like a pretty decent deal, if the races are long enough.

I've been there a few times. They offer groupons fairly frequently, and it's a ton of fun. Last time I went was for a company anniversary, and we had enough people that it was just our group on the track. Two of the guys had times in the national top 10. Totally worth going if you get the chance.

I have found a place that is $60 for an hour which you can break up into 15, 20, or 30 minute sessions. Now I can't make myself go anywhere else because it's so much more expensive.

Dammit that's like 40 minutes for me...you're halfway between me and the mall.

Maybe I'll check it out sometime, though.

It looks similar to the K1 here around Chicago. It's a good time, well run indoor karting. Electric karts, which were odd getting used to but are still a ton of fun.

I'd imagine at this level, drive weight makes a big difference whether its gas or electric. I mean 50 lbs is a lot when the carts weigh what 100 lbs?

yea, i'll watch for groupons. Boston F1 looks way better but I guess you get what you pay for.

again the nice thing about the electric carts is the torque that they put down in the direct drive that they use but like you said 50 pounds is plenty to slow me down versus my lightweight buddy. I only weight 190...

Yeah, I used to go to the one in Seattle (Redmond) all the time with work buddies.

It's not epic, but it's good fun for the money. 10/10 would recommend.

Its well priced if you have a 3 for 2 discount. The problem I ran into when looking for places for my bachelor party was the karts seem to not be that well matched in speed, it is a lot more of a mixed bag compared to gas karts. I am probably 40lbs heavier than my friend but flat out, 2 of the three karts he drove there were slower than mine.

Yea I've run into that issue at other places. hopefully since this place is brand new it won;t be like that
